Speed Mechanics Athletic Club at Speed Mechanics

Built for Athletes Who Want to See How Far They Can Go.

Speed Mechanics Athletics Club — SMAC — is a performance-driven track and field club based in Victoria, BC, specializing in sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws for athletes U14 through Senior. Built on the same long-term development principles that define Speed Mechanics, SMAC bridges the gap between club track and high-performance sport. We give athletes the technical coaching, structured programming, and integrated strength training that most clubs simply can’t offer.

We compete across BC and into the Pacific Northwest. We train with purpose every session. And we’re building something worth being part of.

Built for Athletes Ready to Level Up.

SMAC athletes train at PISE and Oak Bay with event-specific coaching and structured strength programs delivered through Speed Mechanics’ integrated training system. U18 athletes are integrated into the Accelerator Program for their strength and conditioning work. Older athletes receive programming tailored to their event and competitive goals.

Our competition calendar includes the Island Track Series, BC Provincial Championships, Legion Championships, and Canadian Track and Field Nationals. For indoor season we travel to the Podium in Spokane, Washington to compete in the Pacific Northwest and we look to add a warm-weather training camp each year to connect with high-performance clubs and build our network of fast athletes across the region.

This is not a recreational track club. It’s a performance environment for athletes who want to compete, develop, and see how far they can go.

THE COACHING STAFF

Sprint & Hurdle Development
Sprint & Hurdle Development

From 60m through 800m and short to long hurdles, our sprint and hurdle programming is technical, purposeful, and built around the specific mechanical demands of each event. Every session has intent. Every progression has a reason.

Jumps & Explosive Power

Long jump, triple jump, and high jump coached with a deep focus on technique, mechanics, and progressive loading. The explosive qualities developed in jumps training transfer directly to sprint performance. We train the whole athlete, not just the event.

Integrated Strength & Conditioning

Every SMAC athlete follows a structured strength program developed and delivered through Speed Mechanics. On-track coaching and in-gym training are planned together because high performance in track and field requires both, and they need to work as one system.

Individualized Athlete Development

Every athlete receives coaching tailored to their event, their training age, and where they are in their development. We don’t run a one-size-fits-all session and hope for the best. We build athletes deliberately with the long game in mind.
